Femi Ajayi is a frontend-focused software engineer in Toronto with strong full-stack experience, specializing in large-scale search and discovery. He holds a BASc and an MEng in Chemical Engineering (with a specialization in Computer Science) from the University of Ottawa, where he ran varsity track and field and was named an Academic All-Canadian with the 2021 Canadian University Student Athlete Merit Scholarship. Led development of AI-powered Search Overviews and Natural Language search suggestions at Coursera, surfacing intent-aware results on top of the redesigned search UX foundation. Drove a 5.41% increase in paid conversion and a 1.71% increase in overall enrollment through better discovery and query understanding.

### Product Card application
Led full-stack development of the Product Card Application, unifying product data across search and discovery surfaces. Cut front-end development time for new card surfaces by 75% and made experimentation easy. Improved card performance with GraphQL federation and streamlined data fetching.

### Multi-page onboarding
Led front-end development of the new Multi-Page Onboarding, improving completion rates by 355%, increasing learner data collection by 4.17%, boosting logged-in enrollments by 5.04% and paid conversion by 2.56%, and reducing site exit rates by 24.85% through optimized UX and eventing analytics.

### Search Filters & Autocomplete redesign
Authored the technical design docs and coordinated frontend, backend, ML and data stakeholders to redesign Search Filters and Autocomplete across core Search pages. Delivered a scalable, accessible UX foundation on the company design system that rolled out globally to millions of learners and enabled later intelligent search features. Led to a 4% increase in paid CTR and a 6.6% increase in checkout start rate.

### Syllabus indexing in search
Implemented syllabus indexing in Coursera search, indexing course modules, lessons and items to improve relevance. Reduced zero-result queries by 23% and increased search-based enrollment by 2.96%.

### Sort by New
Led development of the Sort By New filter on the search page, increasing new-content enrollments by 3.5% and overall search enrollment by 1.25% on the consumer platform.

### Standardized eventing schema
Partnered with Data Science as the first engineer at Coursera to implement the new standardized eventing schema, enabling intuitive dashboards and giving non-data teams direct access to metrics. Also led migration of the team's frontend endpoints to GraphQL, reaching 100% usage across owned pages.

### Cadence Health (Live)
Contracted through Kunolu to design and build a healthtech analytics portal for managing and analyzing rheumatology patient-reported outcomes. Built the Angular/TypeScript clinician portal with Chart.js and Highcharts dashboards and Stripe billing, against a Django REST Framework API on Google Kubernetes Engine with Cloud SQL Postgres, Firebase Auth and Cloud Build.

### Lovestruck (Live)
Lovestruck is Kunolu's first product, live on iOS and Android with 100+ daily active users and about $500 in monthly recurring revenue from RevenueCat subscriptions. Built in Flutter/Dart with domain controllers over a thin-client, server-authoritative model, plus a native iOS WidgetKit extension in Swift sharing state through App Groups. AI date-idea recommendations use Gemini enriched with Google Maps/Places and Ticketmaster. Backend on Firebase/GCP: Firestore, TypeScript Cloud Functions, FCM, Remote Config, Crashlytics, App Check. CI/CD with GitHub Actions and keyless Workload Identity Federation deploying to separate nonprod and prod projects.

### Ansa (Live)
Ansa lets small business owners add their website, PDFs, Word documents, text and Q&A pairs, then answers visitor questions grounded in those sources. It deploys as a one-line script embed or a hosted chat link. Retrieval-augmented generation is basically search with a language model on top, which is the same problem I work on at Coursera. Built with Next.js, React, TypeScript, Firebase and the Vercel AI SDK with Gemini on Vertex AI, plus Stripe billing.

### Bywell (Live)
Bywell brings news, earnings and fundamentals for your holdings into Claude, ChatGPT, Codex, Gemini and any other MCP client, plus a web and mobile app. The idea: you're the decision maker; the app makes sure you're informed. A pnpm monorepo with a Node + Hono API that also serves an MCP server, a Next.js web front door with Stripe checkout, a React Native + Expo app for earnings push reminders, and shared Zod schemas. MCP tools cover holdings, watchlists, earnings reminders, journal, goals, contribution room and a self-education learning path.

### Lewis: AI mechanic in your pocket (Live)
Car diagnostic assistant that connects to a vehicle over Bluetooth OBD2 (ELM327/OBDLink), interprets trouble codes and UDS data in plain English, tracks maintenance and estimates repair costs. The chat persona, Lewis, is an expert mechanic powered by Gemini Flash through Firebase Cloud Functions. Flutter app with multi-vehicle support, live on the App Store as “Lewis: AI OBD2 Car Scanner”.

### Songbird (Live)
Flutter app that opens from the iOS/Android share sheet. Share a Spotify or Apple Music link and Songbird converts it to the matching link on the other service, then lets you share it on. Backed by a small Vercel resolver endpoint. Live on the App Store as “Songbird: Music Link Converter”.
